Years ago I splurged and bought a porcelain teapot that matched my china. Since I'm a tea drinker, it was a joy for me to use it each day. One afternoon, I accidently knocked it off the kitchen counter, breaking the teapot, but the lid was unscathed. I saved my money and purchased a replacement in the same pattern.

Years later, that new teapot was sitting on the counter, and my ill-mannered cat, jumped up and knocked it to the floor! As luck would have it, the teapot broke, leaving me with another lid. If you look closely at this quilt, you will see that there are two lids in the picture.

Anyone need a lid for a Villeroy & Boch teapot? Since I wasn't having any luck with teapots, I asked for a new, cheaper one for Christmas that year.

This sad story has recently come to a happy end! A man wrote that he had broken the lid to a teapot belonging to his wife's best friend, and he was really in the dog house. Would my lid possibly fit a teapot that was the "Naif" pattern? Yes, it would, since that was my pattern too. The lid was shipped to Canada where the waiting teapot was needing a new lid, and mine fit!. Everyone is happy, and the man made a donation to the Humane Society in Oreo's name.
