Laura and Ann went on a whale watching adventure while teaching in Monterey CA. Ann had wanted to do this for a long time, and looked forward to their cruise together. After a light breakfast and a motion sickness pill, they bravely boarded the whale watching ship. It took an hour and a half to go about 6 miles from shore. Finally whales and dolphins were sighted! Laura was snapping pictures and enjoying the day. It was cold yet sunny and the water sparkled! Ann however, wasn’t having as much fun. Motion sickness overtook her and she was glad to step foot on solid earth on their return!
Ann has now seen whales in their native habitat. They were barnacle encrusted creatures, that weren’t too exciting. The dolphins were fun to watch. An albatross was also sighted that day, she had never seen one before. The journey wasn’t as enjoyable as she had hoped!
Here is a lighthearted look at their adventure! This little quilt is fused and machine quilted. Notice the central focus on the ship railing! This is what you grasp when you get sea sick!
This is a story quilt that is fused, machine embroidered and quilted.
