Ginkgoes and Hearts by Ann Fahl
This little quilt was made for my 2017 Valentine card. I assembled lots of scraps that had been laying on my work table from a larger quilt: Dancing Ginkgoes. The strip on the lower edge was made years ago, to ornament a page on my website and was never used. I added two more hand painted fabrics in turquoise and soft green for the background.
The large purple ginkgo in the center was appliqued using my Florentine Applique technique, and machine embroidered 3 pink hearts for Valentine’s Day. The machine quilting was done using a variegated soft blue, turquoise and green thread. The edges were bound with a green, blue and pink narrow stripe which repeats the leaf colors in the center. Wool batting.
