Smelling the Flowers by Ann Fahl
The other day, I set a fresh bouquet of flowers on the narrow ledge between the dining room and the kitchen. That day the coneflowers were blooming in my garden, there were so many that I picked both the pink and the white and arranged them in my favorite vase. Oreo jumped up when I left the room to check them out! When I returned, I found her innocently sniffing the flowers. Luckily nothing was broken or got knocked off the ledge this time. She sat up there for the longest time, proving to me, that life is definitely better "when you take time to smell the flowers."
