Having trouble with metallic thread? There is no doubt; this is the most challenging type of decorative thread. Learn how to be successful at: appliqué, embroidery and quilting. Ann will share many tips during the workshop based on her booklet of the same name. The class will machine appliqué and embroider a small floral sample; and practice quilting on small pin basted sandwiches. In the process you will learn how to adjust your machine for success. This will open up a new world as you learn how to solve challenges that come your way. This is a full day class requiring a machine with decorative stitches.
We will be creating a sample that is 15 x 15 inches, and practice quilting on several small quilt sandwiches. The instructor will have needles, thread and hoops available for purchase.
Every student is responsible for understanding their sewing machine and how to adjust it. Some brands have computer menus that are difficult to navigate. You will need to know how to: raise and lower top tension; lower feed dogs; change stitch width; change stitch length; reduce pressure on the presser foot; know how to set your machine for free-motion work. Some Viking machines have a free-motion override setting, know how to find and activate it. $10 class fee for Metallic Booklet by Ann Fahl
