Fish Fan and Spiral by Ann Fahl

Here is a playful quilt combining the elements of several of my quilt series. The hand dyed background of blue, focuses on a large circular red area on the lower center. Around the yellow spiral are appliquéd fish, that appear to be the blades of a fan. Between the fish are smaller fish shapes of black tulle that are beaded in a herringbone pattern. Hundreds of red iridescent bugle beads are scattered in the red area around the big spiral. The background is quilted in a tiny clamshell design with a spiral border. The binding is made from my favorite red fabric with bright stripes.
