This machine appliqued swan was made in memory of Ann's favorite Aunt, Nelda Vibrans. The swan, a symbol from Winona Lake, IN; is created from many white fabrics including chintz, brocade, cotton, satin, prints and solid fabric. The bird is resting on a nest of fuschia yarn, which is symbolic of my aunt's love of knitting. Yellow maple leaves are scattered along the left side and lower edge, they filled the Indiana countryside at the time of her funeral. The quilt is machine quilted and embroidered with solid and variegated threads. This quilt is perhaps one of Ann's most well known works.
