This colorful quilt was created especially for the Windy City Blues traveling exhibition. This piece is composed on one piece of Melody Johnson's pastel hand dyed fabrics. Over this, I fused lily pads and a white egret enjoying a sunny day at the pond. This isn't just any pond; it is across the interstate highway from the sewage processing plant at Gary, IN! It's hard to believe that this beautiful little pond, frequented by many egrets is located so close to a rather offensive processing facility! Realistic details are given to the subjects through extensive machine embroidery and quilting. Pictured in Quilter's Gallery 1998; Quilter's Newsletter Magazine 2002, American Quilter Magazine 2006.
